Nupur, a competitve dance programme is telecasted on NTV Bangla every Tuesday. The team behind the concept of Nupur, an innovative dance programme, featuring the talented child performers, are Shibly and Nipa, the dancing duo.

In the year 2002, Nupur started under the banner of the dance organisation Nrittyanchal, headed by Md Jahangir and sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, with the aim of spotting talented dancers. The competition started wih the first phase of filtering some 400 upcoming artistes of the country. From each region, a committee comprising veteran dancers and other noted cultural personalities select the talented performers.

To generate interest among the viewers and to share the positive aspects of the art form amongst the young generation, proficient dancers, directors, choreographers and even musicians, are often invited who talk about their association with dance. Among them were Zeenat Barkatullah, Aupee Karim, Ishita, Anjana, Bijori Barkatullah and others who have moved to modeling, fashion, films and drama and continue to enthrall the audience. Plans are also afoot to present the colourful traditional dances of the indigenous people: the Rakhaines, Santals and the Chakmas, among others.

Nupur is telecast on NTV Bangla, every Tuesday at 9 pm.

Drama Serial: Kachher Manush on NTV Bangla

The serial, based on Suchitra Bhattacharjee’s novel Kachher Manush, is directed by Afsana Mimi.

"The novel Kachher Manush was published in the Indian magazine Desh Patrika during 1995-97. Kachher Manush was focused on women's issues in the middle class social structure.

Mostafa Kamal Syed, the head of programme, ntv, Subarna Mustafa, had performed in the role of Indrani in the serial. The mega serial Kachher Manush had 150 episodes."

NTV Bangla telecasted Kachher Manush on Thursdays and Fridays.

The mega serial Kachher Manush was centred on the problems of two women. Through the story of a joint family, Kachher Manush depicts the barriers that separate people. Mamunur Rashid, Alamgir, Subarna, Humayun Faridee, Fazlur Raahman Babu, Salauddin Lavlu, Azad Aabul Kalam, Afsana Mimi and others played the central characters in the serial.

Premanjita Chowdhury: The talk show host with panache

Unlike many talk show hosts, Premanjita has a direct, non-confrontational approach. Her style is characteristically frankand encouraging.

Premanjita started her career in 2004, when she hosted a Valentine's Day special entertainment programme on NTV Bangla as a guest anchor and earned appreciation in the bargain.

She hosted a popular evening talk show titled Shubho Shandha, one of the longest running shows on NTV Bangla. Throughout her career she has interviewed many of the leading personalities. Among her most famous interviewees were Shamim Azad, Tarik Anam Khan, Lucky Enam, Dr Enamul Huque, Khaled Khan, Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Sadya Afreen Mallick and many others. In all, she claims that she conducted over 20 interviews over the course of her career. Premanjita has eventually arrived at her current position as a news anchor and caster.

Premanjita grew up in Chittagong. After completing her HSC, she came to Dhaka. Currently, she is studying at the Department of Public Administration, Dhaka University. Although Chittagong is her hometown, the most formative years of her life have been spent in Dhaka.

Talking about her source of inspiration, she says, "I have always been inspired by my family and have received a lot of encouragement from them. My father, in particular, has been a source of strength for me. His opinions are important to me and he is a huge influence in my life."

A music programme titled, Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan, is currently being telecasted on NTV Bangla. The show is hosted by Syed Abdul Hadi. The show includes Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet and the 'so-called' Aadhunik gaan. The team behind the origin of this programme include M Muzakker, Mostafa Kamal Syed and Syed Abdul Hadi.

Syed Abdul Hadi has been a major talent in Bangladeshi music arena for nearly 45 years. He first sang in an Urdu film entitled Eaee Bhi Ek Kahani in 1960. From then on, he was involved with the media. He is now utilising his vast experience in the field to find out the diversity as well as the chronological development of music in Bangladesh.

Kichu Kotha Kichu Gaan is telecasted every Wednesday at 9.20 pm.
